✨ #readinterfaith Kickoff

I am Black.
I am Jewish.
I am Proud.

I want to challenge the common assumptions about whom and what Jews are, by presenting ”own voices” Jews of color literature. Jews of colorful families exist from the Americas, Iberian Peninsula, Asia, Africa, and India. From Jews by birth to Jews by choice, we are #globaljews !

From California, Canada, and Jamaica, my online Havurah and I have joined forces with some Muslim friends to curate fiction and nonfiction titles for a first-ever Instagram #ReadInterfaith campaign (created by @why__read & co-organized with @theroadlessread ) focusing on encouraging readers to read more books on the multicultural Jewish & Muslim narratives.

Representation matters and I want to encourage more cultural understanding with this reading challenge. Please join us, 8-14 August , to help raise awareness about the racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity of the Jewish identity, Muslim identity, and collective experiences. Tag, comment, and share your stacks too!

When we share and hear everyone’s voices, ideas and stories, everyone feels included, welcomed and accepted. Together, we can foster cross-race solidarity to help combat racism.

Follow the hashtag #readinterfaith to see both underrepresented presenting faiths.
